Hanon Systems Expands Manufacturing Capability in Hungary

SEOUL, Korea, Sept. 16, 2021 – Hanon Systems (KS:018880), a leading global provider of automotive thermal and energy management solutions, today announced the two site inaugurations in Hungary – a new greenfield production facility in Pécs and a building expansion in Rétság.

Located in Baranya county, the new manufacturing facility in Pécs increases production capacity for fluid transport products and strengthens the company's manufacturing footprint in Europe. The facility provides 22,464 square meters (approximately 242,000 square feet) of manufacturing space and accommodates equipment including forming, brazing, welding and bending, assembly lines and testing for automotive air conditioning (A/C) lines. The site offers the opportunity for further expansion to address future business needs and currently employs more than 300 employees.

The building expansion in Rétság is located in Nógrád county and adds an additional 4,500 square meters (approximately 48,500 square feet) to the existing site to support additional capacity of aluminum die castings for compressor operations in Europe. The building is equipped with modern machinery for horizontal die casting. Currently, there are more than 150 employees at the Rétság site.

“We are pleased to grow in Hungary. The locations for our investment program were carefully chosen as an important hub in our efforts to support the industry’s migration toward e-mobility,” said Min Sung, Hanon Systems president and CEO. “We continue to explore bringing new and innovative technologies to market and implementing best practices that bring a positive impact to our communities, employees, customers and the planet.”

In addition to Pécs and Rétság, Hanon Systems operates a facility in Székesfehérvár, which is an important pillar of the company’s presence in Europe that has been producing compressors and cooling systems for the world’s largest automotive companies for 30 years.
